AP Testing vs. Dual Credit
The vast majority of students taking AP Psychology at HHS will receive college credit.
This course meets for nearly 180 hours, whereas a college course meets for 45 hours. Although we teach Psychology over two semesters (as do most high schools), students will generally only get a semester (3 credit hours) of college credit.
One advantage to this is that students and parents have until January to make the decision on the route that is best for them.

AP Testing
-
Register online
  • Cost $84 (free with tax credit)
  • Most schools accept 4 & 5 for PSY 101 credit, many accept 3
  • Prestige and recognition from College Board (AP Scholars)
  • Standardized test allows students to compare themselves to other students.

Dual Credit
-
Deadline: JANUARY 20th

- Through Chandler/Gilber Community College

- Be sure to mark HHS w/correct teacher

- Form must be filled out and brought in with payment, to Hamilton by deadline

PSY 101, 3 credit hours

   - Cost about $240

   - Transfers to all state universities

   - Students need a grade of C or better

Last year out of about 244 students, 201 students took the AP test, 25 took dual credit, and a few did both. Hamilton students have about a 90% pass rate with the majority of those getting 4's and 5's.
